We’re talking about things with 4 wheels, close enough for TW.

Doooood! Yeah have been following those for awhile. Right up my alley. Supposedly going to build a truck version.

lol! Think the TW brethren are going to blow a nut if Toyota keeps on giving us blue balls…

Toyota related sweet 4Runner on carsandbids with a V8 swap. I have a feeling it’ll double in price before if sells. If I didn’t have 2 vehicles already I’d bid.

Toyota of Gibraltar. Would go on their site for years and dream about what could have been. Lol! Think I need to move to a foreign country.

Used Land Cruisers are cheaper too, at least in Spain there is a good selection under 10K Some Hilux's as well.

Yeah, can get them dirt cheap over there. I follow a couple European FB dirt bike pages, can get Italian made Betas a heck of a lot cheaper. Pays to be closer to the source

My wife and another professor took a bunch of colllege students to Thailand a couple years ago to film a documentary. She knows me and was taking pictures of all the HiLuxes running around. They were in a rental diesel Toyota Fortuner. Can see the skewp for the intercooler in the pic below.

She is trying to get me to move over there, unfortunately too hot and humid for me.

They actually use their trucks as trucks there. :)

For what it’s worth. I was in your shoes 2 months ago. Getting what you want at sticker or under I’d go for the 2023. It’s proven it’s v6 it will have resale value. There’s days I’m like I should have waited but have to remind myself it’s prob a year out, it’s new model year which have the least resale value and most issues and you may not like it. I’m not a huge fan of the body style angles so far and I’m sure the interior will have all the shiny piano key plastics like the tundra. If you want 4th gen I’d wait 2 or more years. Like the gen 3 I didn’t like it until they did the refresh in 2020 and premium features become standard.

Do it quick before someone else buys the truck. Who knows when you will be able to actually buy a 4th gen. It could be years from now.

Dogpiling here. Do it. At that price and match, you’ll do well if you decide to upgrade to a 2025.

What color is it? What state? I’ve noticed some states are slower than others for sales.

I’ll go against the grain here. I have a 23 Tundra and “TO ME” it’s light years better than a 2021 Tundra. Pretty easily to see the 24 Taco is going to be similar to the new Tundra. Just go drive one to see what you think about layout and functionality. Compare the new Tundra to the Taco and you will see the technology and active safety upgrades. I really ended up liking the big multimedia screen as I go between apps and nav screens all the time. The truck rides so much better than a 21 as well. It’s easy to get 20 MPG highway as well due to the turbos. If that stuff is something you’d like to have and don’t have to buy for the next 8 months then just wait. The chip situation can easily be worked out by then and Tacos will be back to 5500 off MSRP and you will be upside down value wise. To me, the current Gen taco feels out dated, has old tech, is under powered (very little low end torque when towing) has a very spartan dash, and rear drums. All while getting less MPGs than my Tundra. Plus if you really wanted the Taco you would have already bought. Something gave you pause…Listen to yourself.

They hold their value like crazy. And even more so in your case as it’s the last year of the 3rd gen. Won’t cost you much to upgrade to 2024 if you even decide to. (You might test drive gen 4 and not like it.)

If you need a vehicle now the Taco or a Tundra is a no-brainer.

Get the 2023, drive it a couple of years until the new gen Tacoma works out all the kinks, it might actually take more than a couple of years to work out the kinks if the 3rd gen Tundra is any example. Unless you like being a beta tester for new tech and helping a manufacture discover all the problems on a new generation vehicle.

Now imagine that with the roof chopped off and a truck bed added. That’s the new Tacoma. That’s why Toyota won’t release any photos. :D
