had posted a thread about that pesky little shifter light that didnt work. turned out that the entire socket was gone in my Taco. lots of searching online & at the local shops made it "unobtainium".

heres how i got around that for $5.

    1. take the shifter cover off without breaking those back tabs.
    2. take the shifter handle off. 2 screws in front & remove the O/D button
    3. remove the 3 screws & take the indicator plastic off & to your bench.

    Mod time!

    1. heres the LED button light i got at the local RK for $4.99 (see pic)
    2. now make the original hole square out to the edges of the housing. (see pic)
    3. grind/file the LED down to square shape that fits in the hole. just be sure to not get into the LED plate inside the holder. (same pic as hole)
    4. once you have test fit it, clean it with some alcohol, let it dry, hot glue the surface, stick the light in it, hot glue around the outside. also put some black tape around it to keep light reflected where it belongs instead of out everywhere.
    5. reinstall the plate & wire it up. i used micro nuts just incase it ever needs taken back out (see pic)
    6. test it & button it all back up (see pics)

not sure why but it double up a couple of those pix...
