2000 Tacoma Unkown plug?

Have this unknown plug here was hoping somebody could tell me what’s supposed to go there?

 

If you have a better picture of the plug and the wire colors going to it I can probably figure out what it goes to.

 

I aint mechanic, but it looks like the connector to the windshield washer reservoir tank, tank is missing in the picture!!!?

 

I thought that too at first but it looks like the washer bottle and pump is behind the right headlight.

 

I think you are more accurate on this , i'm sure someone will tell us exactly what is it is at some point,. for now, just have to wait!

 

ABS and Cruise Control are in that area.

 

They would have more than 2 wires going to them though

No telling, been a long time since I had my 1st Gen.

 

ABS maybe. Definitely not cruise control. I have cruise control (but not ABS) and its not a 2 wire connector.

 

I think I found it, look like the connector for the Auto Antenna.
I had no idea that was a thing on 1st gens.

I don't have a power antenna or that plug dangling.

Just checked the 02 docs. Yep, no power antenna available = no need for the plug. lol

 

IDK it's in the wiring diagrams and component locations from 95 to 2000, I've never seen a 1st gen with one either though.

 

It's A8 for sure, doesn't mean all years or models had it, it's just a factory thing.

Residual from the 4runner it was derived from.

I've never seen a 1st gen with an auto antennae either. My 96 4runner has (had) one so maybe it was a less common option on the Tacoma?

Maybe if the connector is there for the Auto Antenna Control Relay, that would be a cool mod. I always thought the auto antennas were cool, been a long time since I've seen one though.

 

My 2001 LX470 (100 series Land Cruiser) has power antenna on a switch. Factory. Can raise or lower the antenna exactly where I want it.

 

Interesting, I've never seen that. All the ones I've seen are automatic, they go up with the radio on and down with it off and also go down when the key is turned off.
