It's crazy how old our beloved first gens are becoming... My 99 still looks great and runs strong but she's starting to get a little long in the tooth. It's a manual and the synchro on third gear is starting to go. I remember reading about a shop in I believe central California that specialized in first gen transmission rebuilds but for the life of me, I can't find it on here.

I was wondering if anyone here knew what that shop was or if anyone could recommend a shop in Southern California that could rebuild the manual trans in my 99.

    Thanks in advance!

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Ask around local I am lucky to have a Great Place a few minutes away.

It is not cost effective for me to even change u joints they do them cheaper then I can purchase new ones.

I suppose it would depend on what they'll charge for a rebuild. A manual transmission for a V6 4x4 runs around 2332.00 (McGeorge) V6 2wd is a little over 1600. I had a auto trans going out, rebuild was around 1600. - 1800. Opted to get one from Toyota with warranty for 500. more.

my last rebuild was $250.00 for parts and $250.00 for labor .

Any other parts are tossed in out of the buckets of used parts .

A major failed part would no doubt end in a bucket of parts from my transmission.

Never forget a new bushing and seat can be a low cost fix of many shifting problems !!

    When were yours last changed??
