Looks like we might be plumbing today. Water is blue in the toilet tank, can't tell if the other faucets are blue yet. Think the water softener bit the dust... o_O

Hard and full of iron. Even with a softener the old copper water lines are going to need replaced real soon... :annoyed:

Blue water seems to have cleared up in the thunderbucket. I can tell the softener regened last night and that is the first thing that used water after it. The line to the commode does need to be replaced as they have a galvanized stub out that is all clogged up. Probably going to set up a system to use the cistern for the toilet with a bypass to use the well in dryer months.

Hey @RustyGreen , was it you that had a DIY series of water filters/softeners for a pressure washer? I have vague memories of you posting something like that. I was hoping to get the deets.

If it wasn't you, I'd appreciate anyone else giving some direction

    TIA :hattip:

Good memory, glad to provide

The well water quality isn't great at the garage so I filter it a bit first (3X), the (white) first filter is 40 micron, then 20 micron, finally 5 micron.

The brass valve with the gray hose is to run filtered water into a bucket or a regular garden hose.

Pressure washer was $100 at Sam's Club, perfect for washing cars, probably not so much for heavy equipment. No mods to the PW, it is held on the cart with a piece of #12 wire, cart from Harbor Freight.

The filter housings, commonly called a "whole house filter", are available at any plumbing supply house, home improvement store, AMZ, etc.
This is the most common size that takes a 2.5" x 10" filter and has 3/4" threads.

Filters are readily available in many micron ratings and also different media.

These NPT to garden hose adapters are commonly available too.
