I have been experiencing a bump, almost like someone hits my bumper at 60-65 MPH. Intermittently. Doesn't always happen. I changed the spark plugs & replaced the wires NPK package. In doing so I noticed a bit of corrosion on aone of the coils which I cleaned off. (Corrosion outside maybe equals corrosion inside?) I don't throw a code and other wise truck runs fine at all speeds. I don't want to replace a $150 part for no reason. Is there a way to test a coil independently? Haven't found any posts or You tube specifically on this problem. In direction to remove this issue would be appreciated.

The FSM outlines a method for checking resistance of the coils using a multimeter. If no one else responds before I get home today, I can post pictures of that section of the FSM. That being said if those are original coil packs, might be fair to assume they're worth replacing at this juncture anyhoo.

... If you're feeling a physical "bump" on your bumper... I'd be looking more towards driveline issues rather than motor related issues. Think U joints, carrier bearing, Leaf springs (and eye bushings), and shocks...

If he is talking about ignition coils it could. But it wouldn’t help to move them around if it’s not throwing a misfire code. How many miles are on them? What engine?
