Anyone know why my canopy roof would be concaved like this? I bought the canopy like this and I've tried pushing it up and it just snaps back to the concaved position.

Too much weight at some point in the past? Heat? Defective construction? What brand is it?

    It's a Leer canopy.
I figure someone put something they shouldn't on it. Just seems weird that I can't pop it back the other way.

I have no idea if this would work, but are you able to tightly wedge a few or many, support structures in numerous places that would bring and hold it, back to its original position. Maybe ride around with those in place for a month or so. Pull em out and see if it stays. Might be a stupid idea, idk.

*bunch of 2x4s or something, wedged in an outer circle for the perimeter, then an inner circle for good measure, and maybe another inner circle…

Is it fiberglass? I don't see how fiberglass could bend like that without cracking

Fiberglass resin usually doesn't soften until about 180-200°F but if there was a heavy load and 100°F temps with sunshine making it even hotter...maybe that's enough to prevent cracking and cause the fiberglass to warp into the new, undesired shape. Just guessing.

Put a blanket down the driveway take the canopy off the truck flip it upside down put on top of the blanket in the hot sun with some weight on it That’s just messed up, never seen that before. Even though it’s not new, I would call the leer company and ask them if they ever seen this or if there is a fix for this. I’m sure they would talk to you about it or local dealer. Will talk to you about it.

You bought it like that? That's a fiberglass roof isn't it? I don't think it's going to pop back.

Wrapping up work, designed a canopy jack for you on CAD... Should be about a one-beer job.

Stop- before you start pushing on it, putting weight on it, etc look at it and figure out if it has a thicker section in the middle of the roof. A lot of the fiberglass canopies have a honeycomb type panel fiberglassed into them and unfortunately they're usually cardboard type material. That panel is designed to reinforce the roof so that it keeps it's curvature (and thus sheds water) and doesn't vibrate at speed (causing cracking in the gel coating). My first through is that someone climbed on it or put something way too heavy on it and crushed it down and my second is that when the previous owner installed those rack mounts they didn't get the holes sealed and water has leaked in and destroyed the honeycomb material (if present). If the gel-coating has cracking in it then it was probably too much weight, if not then it may be rot. Without a closer look it could be either/or/none of the above.

Either way, pushing from the inside mostly likely won't do anything but damage it further. Find a boat repair place in your area, tell them you bought it that way and ask how much it will be to repair it. A good shop should be able to take a look and tell you how it most likely occurred and if it's repairable (or worth repairing).
