    Hello tonered,
Im super new here but have owned 3 generations of Tacomas. Im very happy with my current 2019 TRD sport, but i def have the hunting issue. From about 5 mph and up. Its very pronounced. I cant hit the gas without a super rev and a 1-2 second delay before it grabs a gear.

Can you recomend a site, source, or book (for dummies would fit me perfect), that can help me understand this from scratch? No offense to this thread but theres alot of banter, conversations, side questions, that distract me from the facts.

Btw, i live in Vegas, if anyone knows someone they trust in my city id be grateful.

@tonered is the man for the Job. Feel free to send me a DM if you want. I'll help as much as possible. I've had three 3rd gen Tacos and my 4th will be here is a couple of days. All have been tuned by @tonered id say I have more experience with tuning than average...

This is not the main tuning thread. There is a locked thread from vF Tuner that talks about all of the development. Lots of chitchat in that one also.

The basics are that vF Tuner cracked our ECUs and made tunes that fix all of the issues. Then, he allowed folks to edit and share those tunes for further fun.

YotaWerx has a network map here, and there is someone in the LV area:

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

    You're welcome!

Thanks for letting get your Taco tuned. Right up to the end of the production run, Toyota just doesn't care to fix these major issues in the Stock tune.

    @tonered
i havent been active in well over a year. i have a 2017 TRDOR manual and currently running SFOB 2.0 final 87 octane (i think, or its the octane learning version--not entirely sure)

there have been a ton of developments since i used to be active in the OVtune manual thread before it got basically shut down, so im curious with the state of things now, and with the "ultimate" tunes still not released, is there anything out there thats better than SFOB 2.0 (at least in your opinion)? Im looking to make a change and very confused on what tuner has been catering to us MT drivers and would offer the best product between Yotawerks/OTT/KDmax/etc

I've had OV and YotaWerx. Both on AT and MT. YotaWerx is the best for MT IMO.

Yeah. Ultimate is still on the back burner.

YotaWerx is the way to go for your MT:

So far I have driven about 200 miles since having the Blackhawk 2.0 Active Duty update in my 2018 TRD Off Road and I am truly impressed with it above the initial BH 1.0 tune.

Immediately I noticed much better throttle response, smoother and quicker acceleration, and much more power going up hills. On a 15% grade uphill, it seemed to not need much throttle input after reaching my desired speed. It just held the torque to maintain my speed.
From a stoplight start there was no hesitation whatsoever and the power band was impressive. However I noticed that this BH2.0 Active Duty throttle response was not much different than the BH1.0 Weekend Warrior tune.

My Taco has a 2/1 Bilstein / rear block lift running on 265/70R17 tires mounted on 17x8.5 wheels on Spidertrax spacers totaling a -32 offset.

I also like to thank “tonered” for taking the time from his busy day to install this update!

    Love this tune!
