Has anyone had this happen or heard of it. My 2017 Tacoma door check broke. Upon further look, the check was fine, but tore the metal out of the door. Now need a full door replacement. I never heard of this happen before. It’s never been in an accident. Just wondering if Toyota has an issue with this.

I think there was a mention of that maybe once before? Gonna have to search back quite a bit. Maybe three years ago?

The ONLY way this could happen is if the door was slammed open or forced open with a lot of force, and, it was done repeatably.
I have been here for several years, read thousands of posts about countless problems and this is only the 2nd time I have heard this. I will go out on a limb and say Toyota does not have a problem in this area.

    Got a pic?
it does sound to me more like a user problem, then a manufacturing defect.

Well I baby this truck pretty well and don’t have high mileage (about50k). It has never been in an accident. I have no idea how this could have happened. But I would never abuse her by violently throwing the door open. I've had the wind push it open on me before. I'm going the replace the door, just really bothered how this could happen. By door check, it is that middle arm.

That should be a fix that a good body shop could do without replacing the door.

    No. DC in his avatar.

ACs don't have a sunroof option and don't have the black vinyl between the windows.

Any good body shop should be able to fix that without replacing the door.
