Well, a couple weeks ago, my BSM quit working randomly while I was driving down the interstate. I thought it was odd, as they were clean and haven't been hit or anything. 5 days ago, my cruise control quit working. Yesterday, my check engine light came on. I took it to Toyota and they gave me some codes that they got from the truck. They tried to charge me $3,995 to fix the truck, after they told me they weren't really sure what was wrong in the first place. My truck is driving just fine, and I haven't noticed any issues at all outside of the electronics acting up. Here are the codes: P04417E, P0445500 and C1AC1. I know it'll cost money to fix a truck with only 60,000 miles on it, but I'm not paying 4 grand for it. Anybody got any tips, ideas, or suggestions?

Cheap first step for the first 2 codes is checking the gas cap or replacing but also check all your evap lines for cracks or if they have become disconnected. Check the engine bay for any rubber hoses that may have come disconnected. Hopefully it something that simple before you have to start replacing parts. The 3 code has to do with blind spot monitoring so one of those sensors is broken or not getting power.

I’d check the battery cables and make sure they’re clean and tight.

I had recently put a locking gas cap on, and replaced it with the factory gas cap today. The light wasn't on afterwards and I've driven a couple hundred miles! Had to believe Toyota of Newnan was going to charge me $3,995 between the BSM and the alleged other "issues." Thank you so much for your help!

Never darken the door of that place again.

And spread the word with any and every local on line review program possible.

But before you do, be sure that what you've stated above is exactly right............ Because your pricing should detail what was to be repaired. And customers make mistakes too.

That said, if you're right, blast away.

I appreciate the offer man! Since I replaced the gas cap, it’s been running just fine with no lights in the dash at all.

I actually used to work over in Snellville at one of the gun shops.

Oh yeah, I remember that amount like I was yesterday. The woman spent 10 minutes telling me they weren’t sure if the issue, they needed more time (at double the price of course) and the final price to fix everything would be $3,995. No clue how she could know that when she was so convincing they didn’t know what the problems were.

Its only about 15 mins away from my house.

Definitely worth stopping by! Most people are surprised when they walk in and see how many guns they have. It’s basically cut in half inside, half gun shop and half pawn shop. Whatever they don’t have in stock, they can usually get as they’re really plugged in with their distributors.
