WTF…another oil thread? Hasn’t this been completely beat to f’ing death? Use whatever synthetic oil you can get your hands on that meets requirements and change it on a regular basis, 5k or 10k miles. No oil made is the holy grail everyone is looking for. Ask @bigoldbeef at well over 300k miles on a 3.5 third gen. Just change it often. Yeeeesh.

I actually do think people are searching when they have an oil question but the sheer f’ing multitude of threads would make anyone go crazy.

add: No offense to OP. Probably currently recovering from thread shock.

It is indeed, however it has extra molybdenum compared to normal M1. Great anti-wear additive.

Engines fail because wrong spec oil is used. Engines do not fail because of brand of oil used.

Lol make sure to run a trd oil filter as well. You want the metal filter. Not the one made of plastic.

Have a 23 too, was just going to get it changed at 5k or 10k. Whatever they do on the free services. Don’t really think they use “break in” oil in these modern engines.

Guy asked about TMO and said he could find little info about it so I provided the specs which took me a while to even find a year or so ago. Seemed like a fair question.

For those interested I might start a thread one day comparing spec data sheets for various oils for those interested (engineers, nerds, scientifically curious, etc.) Also for fun -I’m sure I’ll see a post saying “well Bob the Oil Guy said…”, to which I can reply “well Booger Thompson my childhood buddy swears…” lol.

You sir will not be invited.

    jk, all would be welcome.

Just use whatever decent quality 0w20 oil you can reliably get where you are. The Brand is not that critical. Mobil is good, so is Pennzoil , Castroil, and others. I started to use Rotella gas truck because the store had the quart size on clearance because the 5 qt size sold better, so I took all they had. Enough for 2+ oil changes. Now I'm using Supertech 0w20 and a non trd Toyota filter.

Super tech was great before the prices got jacked up. I switched to Quaker State since it's even cheaper than super tech now. Wish Sam's Club had 0w20 near me because I'd be using that if I could.

That’s what we have been running in our vehicles for the past 7 years. We still get our transmission and gear oil from them, but we switched to HPL PCMO engine oils.

I also use 5w30 full synthetic, better protection for the engine. If you look at manuals in other countries, it's a spectrum from 0w20 up to 15w40. I'll switch to 0w30 in the winter but 30 weight oil is better protection. Tundras actually state in the manual to use thicker oil for harsher driving and towing, aka thicker oil offers better protection.
