There was just an article about this and how auto makers are going back to buttons for knob feel vs touching a flat screen.

 

The modern wireless phone is amazing! Not because you can use it for over 8 million things, but it does those 8 million+ things with only 2-3 buttons.

 

It is likely a mis-installatiin error - a quality control issue...

That patent stipulates a dirty steering wheel, Toyota is working on getting that down.

Ford also patented some tech that allows them to remotely control your vehicle. Lock, unlock, disable, track, etc.

Those buttons make my head hurt. I’ve had three Toyotas with that set up, and I still get it wrong after over a decade.

 

My S10 doesn't have any buttons on the steering wheel, just the horn. I like that.

Volume bar on the display is side to side. Up/Down buttons would not be intuitive.

 

I agree, I am on there also and most Forums are Old and haven't had any Posts in years.

My volume control is correct once every revolution of the steering wheel. Sort of like a dead clock, right twice a day.

 

But according to some, you need to turn the wheel to 90 degrees to change the volume or you are violating some law.

 

the tacoma is designed to match the navigation on the screen for settings and ect, but im getting used to it ...kinda
