Alternative to Toyota Bed Extender?

I'll be honest. I've just asked too much of my Toyota bed extender. It fit my 2020 Tacoma just fine, but it's so lightweight and loosely constructed that the heavy wood I've hauled in the past has squished it completely out of shape.

Anyone have experience with a heavy duty alternative? Especially one that wouldn't require drilling holes in my truck (maybe would just fit in the pre-existing brackets)?

    Any and all help appreciated.

It seems the mount points do not have to change. Just reinforce the extender frame with thick steel plates. If you are hauling heavy product already adding 100 lbs or so of reinforcement for a brief time should be no consequence. Hammer the old frame back into shape before welding on the new pieces ... on the inside probably rather than outside.

I use an old school one, I just don't put heavy things on it. I had one for my 2007 Tacoma until the truck was stolen. Then I got a 2017 and figured out that one I have in the 2004 nissan frontier fits and works just fine. Again, I don't try Pile 200-300 lbs on top of it. It's meant to hold things in. It would be the same if you had/have a roof rack and overloaded it or a bed rack that's overloaded and spreads the panels on the bed.:ballchain:
