Hi, I'm the noob. I have a '16 OR and I want to lift it, but I have no idea where to start or where/what to buy. There's so much information on the forum here that it is almost overwhelming lol. The truck currently has all OEM suspension components. I don't go off-road often as I don't live anywhere near where I can so street performance is a little more important to me, but off road capability is still a nice-to-have.

    My goals are as follows:

    1. Better ride quality. It's a truck so it'll never be great but looking for better ride quality than stock.

    2. Looking to get 2-3 inches of lift (and would like to keep some rake if possible). I was thinking 2(front)/2.5(rear) ish?

    3. Would like to fit slightly bigger tires. (I understand a lift is only half of that battle and cutting may be necessary).

Like I said, I'm a noob when it comes to this. I can handle tire sizes and wheels, but when it comes to the lift I'm really not sure what I should be looking for. Any advice/thoughts are appreciated!!

(Now the real question is do I put money into this one or just save for a down payment on a '24... LOL).

Lifting an IFS suspension vehicle like our Tacomas does not give extra clearance for bigger tires. Period, end of story. Keep your tire size 33" or less (usually less) and offset around zero or positive for least required modifications. Lots of topics on this to search & read about.

If you aren't going to offroad and just want better than stock suspension and don't want to lift too much, best bang for buck is Bilstein 6112/5160. Keep at stock height, or lift less than 2" and pair with an add-a-leaf (AAL) in the rear. Commonly suggested best option is from Headstrong Offroad.

I have Bilstein 5100’s all around and the Icon AAL in the rear. The 5100’s don’t provide rear lift but the add a leaf does. I’m extremely happy with the setup.
