Started making this noise yesterday. Seems to be coming from the tranny but I could be wrong. Fades away as engine warms up but when I give it gas it comes back. Let me know what you think

Welcome to Tacoma World. No idea what the sound is. How many miles on the truck? Has the trans fluid/filter ever been serviced? Could drop the pan and see if you find any interesting shiny things. May want to have a mechanic take a look beyond that, too hard to tell over the internet what sounds are. Good luck.

You may want to check that the torque converter bolts didnt loosen up. Was the transmission dropped for any reason recently? Also sounds like a failing pulley or tensioner.

Transmission hasn’t been dropped ever to my knowledge. Had all the fluids changed back in 2017 about 90,000 km (56000 miles) ago. She’s got just under 280,000 km (174,000 miles) and is a 6 speed manual. The audio quality in the video may have dropped when I uploaded it but the best way I can describe the sound is like a nut or small wrench clanging around in my transmission . Hope this helps

    Thanks!

Oh I thought it was auto. In that case it sounds like your clutch throwout bearing is bad. To confirm press down your clutch pedal and sound should go away or quiet down.

Yup sounds like that’s the issue.
