Hi! I purchased a new 2022 2.7 crew cab Tacoma last July and absolutely love it. I have about 7,500 miles on it and It has been perfect. However, I noticed a couple days ago when I started it (morning) it had an unusual slow/weak start. It is always parked outside. It had been raining for probably 10+ hours the night before with a 15-20 degree drop in temperature. Later that day and the next day everything was fine when I started it. It was a little rainy/humid last night and when I started it this morning it was not as slow/weak but I did notice a little sluggishness when starting it the first time. I assumed it was just condensation maybe on the ignition/coils but wanted to ask and see? I’m a bit of a worry wart so I guess I wanted to get reassurance that it was fine/normal and didn’t want to ask and hassle with my dealership. Coincidentally, my father’s Sequoia was parked outside the (first rainy night) and he mentioned his cranked but didn’t start the first attempt but was fine after. He said he’s heard of it happening in humidity/rainy weather and wasn’t anything to worry about. Thanks so much for all of your help!!!

Get your battery tested. Rain/humidity should have no effect on starting. Some batteries have been bad ( dead cells) Dealer replaced mine at 14 months.

Thanks. I honestly didn’t even think about that since it’s not even a year old but I’ll get it in and have them check. Thanks again

2nd vote for probably getting a new one. Batteries usually give no warning before they die (at 2 AM, at a freeway rest stop 10 miles from the next exit, Sunday morning). Yours is probably giving you a warning.

EDIT: Also might take this as a warning to buy a battery booster jump-start. I have a Nono GB40, but you buy whatever you want.

Well, I took it in and they tested everything (2 hours worth) and said everything was perfect. A little unusual, but I’ll just keep an eye on it. Thanks again for all of the help.

Remember that at some dealerships everything is normal even if it's not. Get yourself a battery tester that can do a load test on the battery and check alternator function. I have this one and check the battery myself:
