Dropped off the truck today for an audio upgrade (the 6MT does not come with the JBL system):

    1. Sound Deadening on doors and back firewall (most noise comes from the back firewall as I removed the rear seats and made a platform for my dogs).
    2. JL Audio 4 channel Amp and speakers
    3. Tweeters already upgraded to Subaru ones
    4. Kicker hideaway powered sub

I had a similar setup on my '19 (except for the sound deadening) and it worked well. Should have it back tomorrow.

Then it goes into Olathe Toyota for 5k service, oil change, and to install tailgate lock (so stupid that this is not standard from factory already).

Most excellent. Keep the oil changes at 5k intervals, ignore the 10k marketing in the manual

Yup, first oil change at 1k miles and then 5k intervals or once a year (whatever comes first). Driving around in the LC today.

I’ve done all mine at 10k. When I got the truck I’d have been doing monthly oil changes if I changed sooner.

16 minutes in. As irritating as this guy maybe, he is a Toyota Master Tech. Oil is cheap, engines are not.

I baby the cars I plan to keep for a long time.

It's funny. I generally maintain strict(ish) schedules on my Tacoma because I want it to last.

The Jeep less so but it's built well enough and the engine internals are incredibly clean for over 200k.

The '78 is downright neglected but refuses to die out of spite.

Lol! Question, my 06 Ls430 is at 80k miles and I am pretty sure still on its original timing belt (i bought it a couple of years ago with 40k miles). Olathe Toyota wants $1200 to do the belt and water pump plus parts. Do you have a better place to have this work done?

Yeah... Twin City Toyota, in Herculaneum, MO.

Problem is, that's on the other side of the state.

Water pumps don't take long though, maybe an hour or two, assuming your older rig isn't crusty

OK. I will ask them for a quote. Unless it's hundreds cheaper prolly stick with Olathe. They have done OK by me on my other cars.

10k Mobil 1 Extended performance changes. On all our cars. Not a single issue. Many out here do it and send in samples to Blackstone Labs and get the big stamp of approval. The stuff is rated for 15k intervals with a warranty if your engine fails.
"What the period of coverage is

The Mobil 1 limited warranty is valid for 10,000 miles or your vehicle’s OEM recommended oil change interval, whichever is longer.

Additional requirements for all Mobil 1 products include:

    • Oils must be put in service not later than five (5) years from the date of purchase; and
    • an oil change must be completed every twelve (12) months.
What we will do to correct problems
ExxonMobil will replace any lubricant that is defective. In addition, if there is equipment failure due to the lubricant you purchased, and the engine was serviceable at the time the oil was installed, ExxonMobil will repair any equipment damage directly caused by a defect or malfunction of the lubricant, at no cost to you, provided that the lubricant was selected and maintained in accordance with specifications of the OEM or the written instructions (which includes product packaging) of ExxonMobil."

Just drove my sister's 93 LX 5.0 around the block to charge the battery since we've been storing it since Thanksgiving. Reminds me why I never bought a FoxBody 5.0.....
