Looking for any forum plugs regarding comparing the best Roof tents? I’ve been looking at SmittyBilt due to the quality and price range. Can’t spend more than about $1,700.

I own an el basico Smitty RTT. Keep it on the truck with the rack all year long. Don’t give a shit. Keeps weight in the back for winter. Love it. It’s all I need. Sleep like a champ in it. Great padding. Air movement is great. Myself, wife and kid sleep in it comfortably when we do family trips. Recommended.

Awesome, I was looking at the XL but it would hang too far off my 5 ft.. I was going to also leave it on all year round too since my taco is 4x2. Thanks for the reassuring rec.!

The smaller Smittybilt good for 2 adults and a small child comfortably. I have zero complaints about it and it’s a decent price.

    Good luck.

That was the one I was looking at before SmittyBilt. I also saw they had front bumper armor for around 1k as well and ended up just window shopping my ideal build.

The RTT's are all made in the same Chinese factory, but Ironman does have a good rep in Aussie land. I've had mine for almost 2yrs with no problems at all. Like most of the entry level RTT's, the mattress isn't the best, but I just use an extra roll up :D I've camped in down pours, snow, and heat.

Sky Ridge by Body Armor is a decent budget tent.

Tuff Stuff has some new items coming out as well.

Again, these are more budget conscious options.

Okay okay, Ironman is coming back onto the list! Also, love that dual bed you’re rocking!

I just sold the trailer a few weeks ago. I'm trying to slim down my shit. I bought a little CRF Rally, so I'm going with the truck and a carrier.

You could probably find a used hardshell for that if you keep your eyes open and can travel a little, just faster to set up is all. Good luck whatever you get.

I wouldn’t be opposed, even though I just bought a bed rack!

I think he means hard shell like this rather than a camper shell

I have a Free Spirit Recreation High Country 55 inch Premium RTT that I used for one season before buying a travel trailer. $3200 new .... I'd let that it go for $1700 all in. DM me if interested, Happy to snap some flicks of it deployed and on the taco. Worland, Wyoming though... so you'll need to be willing to drive.

There is a new RTT coming out from Tuff Stuff that is a scissor style, hardshell that is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Can operate as a wedge, or full pop up.
