Need you guys to calm me down before I do something stupid. So my ditch lights were stolen from my truck about 2 weeks ago. The person who did it knew what they were doing because the bracket is still intact on my truck and the wiring harness was taken clean off with it. Nothing else was damaged or taken so I take it on the chin and moved on. I complain to my apartment complex and they advise me to file a police report. So I did. As a precaution, I switched parking spots with my gf who lives with me. Her car isn't modified at all so we agreed it would be safer. 2 weeks after we switched all 4 of her wheel caps were stolen off her wheels in the same spot where I used to park. At this point, I am furious and thinking about taking matters into my own hands and camping out to catch them. I don't know what I'll do if I catch them but it won't be pretty. Obviously, we are being targeted. Who steals ditch lights then steals worthless wheel caps unless they are messing with us. What would you do?

Work with legal authorities on this. One of the hardest parts of civilization to stomach is that law enforcement is empowered to handle law-breakers, and others are just vigilantes and can be prosecuted.

    Sorry to hear it happened.

Not knowing what you are going to do when you catch them sounds stupid.
So I say, don’t do it.

Well, Don, I sure as shit wouldn't be posting this on a truck forum. Waiting for someone is likely going to get you in trouble. I'd just move from that apartment. Thieves are everywhere, but they are more likely to target something easy. Meaning they know that area well, or you are too close to main streets where people are passing by often.

Good choice, that. One event can be written off as chance. Twice and apartment complexes usually waive an early termination fee just to avoid your lawyers.

Unbelievable! This thread should (and most likely will) die a quick death.

I don’t blame you for being mad, but attempting to approach them will most likely result in an altercation. Remember, criminals have rights, and unfortunately today? May have more, via sympathy.
Many years ago, my father used to warn me when making mods to my old cars- right or wrong, if you draw attention to yourself, you WILL get it.
Your best bet is to move, across town,,, or better yet; out of the hell-hole in general. I know I know, crime is everywhere, but there’s no disputing lawlessness.

Get some replacement ditch lights. Not good ones. Get some burned out or unusable lights and install one of those little GPS tracker thingies. Wire them like they work so that it doesn't like like a gimme. Make them work for it. And wait. Oh, yeah, the cameras would work too.

Doing something bodily to someone for stealing stuff, at least here in TX, is not justified. You have to be in danger to claim self defense. Be careful & be safe. As others have said, criminals have rights too, many times moreso than us.

Trail cam. Document faces. Turn it over to law enforcement. Don't get yourself killed over auto parts.

If you can catch them, more may know about that complex and you specifically. Ask firmly to move out, no early termination fee, but do not be a princess about it. Then find a place that has more security than where you live now. It is the best thing to keep you out of legal trouble.

it,s too late to take it into your own hands since it's on record with the police, your best bet now is a hidden camera

The good news is that we can narrow the search down drastically…

    probably a truck owner
    probably on coke or roids
probably lives in an apartment nearby

that leaves only 500,000 people to question in san diego

throw up the Bat signal and wish for the best

Can you hide a motion activated camera somehow in the interior of your truck facing outward and hope to catch the jerks. The Camera Feature on my wife's Tesla is one of the best things on it.

Sounds to me like this is either:
    1. Someone who knows you and has a personal beef
    2. Someone who lives real close by and knows your routine ( someone in the complex )

I would resist approaching anyone and get some images and info for L.E. to deal with or go spy-vs-spy with them and
do something that doesn't cause personal harm, like a few nails under their tire whilst they are doing the deed. There's
lots of ways to get into some very deep doo-doo kicking someone's ass. Besides that, YOU will be easy to find if they were
    to come back.

People are fking nuts these days with no self control.

Get some poison ivy vines (with gloves on of course) and rub them all over her wheels every evening. Then start looking for acquaintances with rashes.

With all due respect, the last thing I would do if I was going to seek retribution against someone is post my intention in a public forum on the internet. Basically what you've done is told law enforcement "hey, if you locate any local petty auto parts thieves who have been assaulted send your detectives over to question me first".

When I read the title of this thread I figured you were going to talk about a 6-inch lift or some other crazy mod
