Wife just asked about a short camping trip to Crater Lake and the wild horses in SE Oregon.../in 2 weeks not familiar with the area and thought I’d check in here for advice, hints, must see while in the area...we’re in “Pearl” our ‘19 limited with a few goodies (defenders, winch, dual batts and recovery gear...platform in back)...thanks...Ric

We stayed at union creek campground. It was during the winter so it was free but lots of space for toys.

Thanks @Kona_boy (wife is from Hilo side...smiled at your handle ;-) ideas for exploring and site seeing? Nothing too crazy as we’ll be running solo...

Big island!! Haha sorry not sure as we normally go off season to avoid the crowds to snowshoe and/or use it as an overnight stop while traveling to Tahoe.

You’re alittle early for camping at crater lake. Looking at the webcams there’s still 10-15 feet of snow on the ground. The lake is at about 6000ft in elevation.

But whenever you do make it down there (and it’s in season) do the boat tour. It’s by far the coolest way to see the lake and learn about the geology. There’s also a really good little cliff for jumping into the lake by the dock.
