1st gear troubles, can't figure iit out!

    6in lift, 35's, nerfbars, rollbars, KC Daylighters, Forced Air Induction
    I have a 2000 tacoma, ext cab. 3.4L v6. 4x4, that when I put it n 1st gear & start letting out on the clutch, it just "kicks" it outta gear, it only does it n 1st gear, no grinding between 1st & reverse, no other problems, I can't figure it out! Any help would b GREATLY appreciated:frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty:

    01 SR: Double Cab conversion, S/C, lowered.
    I had the exact same symptoms on a 1985 PreTaco, and it turned out to be a bad synchronizer.

    thats exactly what it is... synchros not only mesh geard but they keep the shift forks IN gear

    i doubt it. its just easier to swap trans... like a junk yard trans.

    Hey wait now. I used to think that, but, and I haven't taken one of those apart, I've replaced a couple gears and a few syncros and an input shaft or 2 and it was a snap. Big problem is figuring out what you need. Not always obvious.

    Pretty sure you won't find taking apart the transmission in the chiton's guide though. Usually says "due to the complexity... " blah blah. Nothing to it. Easy as replacing pistons. Well, in my limited experience.
    Can't hurt right?
