Has anyone put on a set of the Elites that have the amber back light? And if so which wire did you use for the backlight power? Corner marker? DRL?

You can hook it up to any of the above and more.

do you have a preference of how you’d want it?

How do you want it to work?

I bought mine from hotshotoffroad and Colton was very kind in helping me decide how to do it. I went with I think any time the truck is on.

turns out, I never use the backlight as I have the fogs on 24/7 while I drive

My preference would be the backlight is on with DRL or whenever the light are on.

I would just use the t-tap onto this wire?

A posi-tap would be better. The wire is very small gauge.

Honestly, I installed mine a while ago so I dont really remember

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2Z8q7GPThY
This video I used as a guide though.

Extra tidbits if you do go with the t-tap (I wrapped mine with electrical tape and dielectric grease. Probably better to try to get some heat shrink wrap around it somehow tho)

    1. So if you tap into the green wire on the back of the main headlight plug that is your DRL wire. The only downside to it is that it goes dark once the low beams are turned on. So you technically wouldn't have the backlight during dawn or dusk.

    2. So there's 5 connectors on the back of each headlight. Let's look at the driver's side. 2 headlight connectors, one 4-pin DRL connector (but only has 3 wires), one 2-pin turn signal connector, and one 2-pin side marker connector.

On the driver's side - low beam is a black connector. Red wire is +. High beam is a white wire. Ground on all connectors is going to be white wire with a black stripe.

OP, if you require the back light to continue to be ON after headlights are selected (DRL turns OFF) then this:
