    Hey Tacoma People,

I just bought a 2016 SR5 and want to fit it for camping. I’ve seen some awesome tent setups with dual tents (bed and attached) that look cool, but not sure they would fit SR5 well with the smaller back? And just cause things look cool doesn’t mean they are the best functionally. I really don’t want to buy an attached camper if I can get away without doing so. It’d be for 3 of us + a dog. Ideally, the dog and kid would sleep separate from wife/myself…We are not the type that need luxury when out and about as we like to spend days mostly out hiking, swimming, mountain biking, playing cards, etc. Very minimal cold camping, so 3 seasons as we will camp mostly in the south. We aren’t new to camping, but have only used a camper in past so any advice/thoughts is welcome. Budget is lets say 2-3k.

I’m probably missing a lot of needed data to get the answers I want, so feel free to point out my faults.

Bed sizes are standard 5ft or 6ft across all trim levels. Your truck being am SR5 doesn't hinder you from a particular setup. If you want a RTT, pick the one you want, decide how you would want to mount it (typically on a bed rack) and go from there.

A nice ground tent and tubs for gear in the bed of the truck is a good way to start. Then figure out what you might want to do for improvements.....
