Taco saved my hide

Hi all!

Got tboned by someone running a red at 55+ this morning. Taco saved my skin... got hit pretty hard. Loved my Taco; think she's a goner?

Man. I'll be honest. I don't know how I feel. I kind of want a fresh one, but I also put work into it and want to keep it. :/

I hear ya. That's a lot of damage to repair and replace. Just the depreciation from having a major accident on a car fax is enough to possibly think of getting something else.

If it isn't totaled I'll be shocked. Almost certain to have frame damage, air bags went off. These are usually signs it'll be a write off.

 

Not sure that being a Tacoma saved you, but glad you are ok. I would imagine you have quite a headache and your neck is probably going to be sore tomorrow.

 

Years ago someone I knew told me about a wreck where her truck ran into the median (deep-V-grass medians back east) on the freeway. She said the truck frame/body was the reason the vehicle did not split running across the uneven ground.

Not exactly the same as the T-bone, but still "rigid body".

 

Totally a goner. Better the truck than you.

are those the clazzio seat covers? No issue with the airbag punching through them?

 

Welcome to the forum. Sorry for your loss. Many people have reported that their Tacoma did very well in a collision. Make sure you see a doctor soon to be sure that you don’t have any hidden injuries.

 

I am a big believer in Toyota safety. Here a story from last year. Two people in a Avalon not wearing seat belts hit a semi head on the freeway. Nobody died. OP, I believe your Tacoma did save you.

Trade off any mods you can before they take the truck!
