Hello all, newbie here. I just bought a 2004 Tacoma, when I try to start it by being in neutral with clutch all the way to the floor ,nothing happens. So then I go to the clutch start bypass and it works great. My granddaughter has a 2003 and hers is the same. Is there something that we are missing?

1st gen - it's got a built engine, a turbo, and waaaaaaay too much to list. 3rd gen - basic-bitch lift, S/C, Pro Wheels
The clutch cancel switch on the actual clutch pedal might be defective. Do you have a multimeter to test the switch?

I’m not sure where the clutch cancel switch on the clutch pedal is. One floor mat.

Just for shits and giggles take it out and try it.
Make sure no buildup of dirt under it.
Use to have one or two a month like this.

the bolts in the clutch switch might be loose. Mine have worked loose and caused this to happen. If the clutch position switch is not made it will not crank when you press the clutch start cancel it bypasses this switch

Yea Toyotas want that clutch pedal buried into the carpet. Even one mat can sometimes cause an issue.
    Glad you’re all set.

You can always bypass the clutch cancel switch on the pedal as well. Then it's always like your clutch cancel start switch is activated but it won't need to be. America just has nanny rules that requires this pesky switch on the actual pedal.
