Though the Ford Maverick is selling well its had a ton of recalls. One has to wonder if it's ever a good idea to buy a new vehicle first year it comes out due to "BUGS". That also goes for the Tacoma. But Maverick flat out has cheap material inside and out and I don't think it will hold up long term. Worse yet the Hyundai Santa Cruz has major transmission problems. We're talking 2021 and 2022 transmission recalls and don't be surprised if 2023 SC has a transmission recall. Like replace whole transmission. Yikes

So in my opinion the door is wide open for the new Tacoma and upcoming Stout. Toyota builds quality but one has to wonder about Ford and Hyundai.

Not if they repeat the build quality of the new Tundra with the new Tacoma. Not a day goes by where I don't read about a major engine to transmission issue with a 3rd Gen Tundra. I guess the only bright spot is the Tacoma won't be made in the same factory with the Tundra so it has half a chance.

    Lol what?

I have been following the new Tundra since the redesign wanting to buy one (I did, build date 3-1-23).

The early 2022s had a few turbo failures that appear to have been fixed after 2-2022 build dates. A couple of folks on the Tundra site have reported spun bearings resulting in bricked engines. No transmission failures reported by members. A LOT of bitching about "first world problems" but nothing to indicate the truck is like a RAM as far as quality.

Mine has had no issues and I'm happy with it. They say the 2023s are better put together than the '22s were, which tracks with my Taco experience (my 2017 has no issue at all, '16s were known for teething pains).

Isn’t it a little too early to tell? You just bought that Tundra right? A vehicle needs at least 100K miles on it before you know if it is any good. For Toyotas would push that that number to 200K to get enough data on failures.

Had my 3rd Gen for a year and half, put 30K miles on it. Still have no idea if it is going as good or better than my past Toyotas. My 1st Gen didn’t need any major repairs until 90K (timing belt/water pump).

Gotta laugh at people who have super low mile vehicles who state “no problems yet!” Well…it better not, it is nearly new!
