    Hi guys,

so today someone attempted to break into the bed of my truck and just broke the tailgate lock. I have a backflip cover and the tailgate is stuck locked has anyone had to deal with this or has anyone got their lock replaced

I’ve locked my keys in the bed before. Use a lever (pry bar, lug wrench etc) to lift up cover enough to be able to pull release cable on bakflip

1....try using the key with a litte force to unlock, 2.....then try a flat screwdriver to force it to unlock(lock is no good anyway)3....you can pry or drill out lock then get to the rod that unlocks it.....or might be better to pry open the backflip

One of the reasons I installed the automatic tailgate locking hardware, to lock and unlock with the fob in case the lock cylinder got jacked up.

I had to remove the top plastic of the tailgate to remove the rear panel and was able to unlock it

I bought a new lock cylinder from the dealership for 270$. Downside is the original key no longer works for the new cylinder so now I’m forced to carry another key. The dealership said some lock smith can repin to match the original key but no one local to me provides that service

Why carry a separate key? Install a Pop and Lock and have keyless entry.
