I have an 05 tacoma with no roof rack. I noticed last fall that there was a small drip coming in just at the seem of the temperature display in my cagarage? Today it railed pretty hard and it came in more of a stream then a drip. Examined the roof, no visual places it could be coming in. Is it possible it's coming in from the windshield edge and seeping back toward the gauage? Anyone had this experience? Thanks.

Check the gasket around the 3rd brake light, it may be leaking in there and running down.

That seems like it would have to run uphill and across the entire roof to make it to basically the windshield. I'll definitely check tomorrow. Appreciate the suggestion.

My guess would be top of the windshield.

An easy way to check for leaks is put your blower on high, recirculate off, windows up, and doors closed. This will create positive pressure in the cab, next take a spray bottle with soapy water and spray it around suspect areas while looking for bubbles.

I'd check that third brake light as well. Seems like the most likely place. Then focus on other areas.

Many of the early model Tacomas produced in Baja (my 09) had too little sealer in the top of the windshield and this also produced a kazoo type noise at higher speeds randomly (wind direction).
So with a plastic tool gently run it under that top rubber seal and see if pockets of no sealer. All windshield shops can reseal but if an 05 check your insurance coverage as stated above as many states have free replacement if cracked (often like 12" in drivers view, enough said). There are also screws under your roof molding for mounting a roof rack and your 05 rubber must be in sad shape.

I have an 08 and it’s always leaked right there at the windshield and I’ve had two windshields installed over the years. My compass doesn’t work due to the leak. I buy an ‘apply wet’ silicon (here) and keep it sealed up. Always works.
