Bummer. Get a daily driver. Wait for the 2026 model year, for all the bugs to be worked out in the 4th Gen Tacoma, trade in you ride on for a new Taco.

    Their offers
A 2017 with similar miles. Looks like it has a aftermarket trailer brake controller so that tells me it was most likely abused

A brand new 2023 leased for 400/mo or financed at 650/mo

pass on the one with a trailer brake. Heads are going to ignite here, but the Tacoma isn't the most ideal tow horse, I wouldn't want one that has been used for one.
At this point, go new or get your old ride back.

Yeah it really is not a good signal for me, the average person may tow every now and then but that tells me it was most likely frequent. Who knows if it was within capacity at that point

They do have some nice 4runners and a rav4 that would be brand new. Not ideal but those are solid options

The 4Rs are very nice and well built. The Rav4s seem the same, but I’ve never owned or driven one for an extended period of time.

So have been in talks about alleged buyback of truck. I specifically told them that I do not want to raise my monthly payments or add additional down-payment.

Today we discussed several tacoma options, they have a 2017 off road with similar miles for 33k, looking at it it has the trailer brake, added leaf spring so I'm turned off on that, he then offers to buy lease a brand new, leasing is not for me, I drive quite a bit monthly( 20k/yr) brand new I believe payments were 600-650

I can accept a range of vehicles so I'm pretty flexible, just an SUV or truck so I can haul my work stuff and some home items. Sent several RAV4s, 4runners they had in stock for right around that 30k mark, all returned with pretty high monthly payments, I believe the lowest I saw was 480 with 2k down. Told them that there's essentially no vehicle here for me with those terms and he said "no just none in your price range you may have to go with a cheaper vehicle" I stated I was done there and proceeded to call corperate

I have looked at the details of this buyback and it's looking more like a straight trade-in rather than deal reversal. So taking my truck and the payoff and giving me the difference which is about 4k. For comparison I had a roughly 8k trade in before with a 4k down payment. Sales number padding? General screwing? Maybe both. Either way I have the call into corperate to try to sort this out

It looks like you went in with 12 grand, cash plus trade in, be nice to get that back and head over to Ford and try a new Ranger. With a 100k power train warranty I’d be tempted.

Frame is in fairly good shape, typical for a 2017 (6 years old now). The welds have cladding that causes poor paint adhesion, so the welds rust first.

Do you think it's demanding to ask for my full down payment back?

No, the truck sounded like a lemon. I’d want my money back as well.

Yeah but then I don't own the vehicle. Dealer was told by Corp to take a loss to make me happy here
