2018 TRD Off Road. Had dealer do the recall for the fuel pump, and now I am getting P0456 (about a month after). About a couple days after the work, I noticed one of the brake lines was left out of it's frame clamp and I called the dealer to mention the sloppy work - totally unrelated to this thread, except for the sloppy work. I didn't ask for anything. About a month later i start getting P0456. I replace the fuel cap - brand new OEM - and erase the code. Few days later comes on again. Under the truck, i can see that they busted one of the clips that holds the lines in, but no apparent obvious damage to the lines themselves. My gut tells me something was not put back together properly after the recall work.... But any insights on these 2018s and P0456 - if not the recall work, is there a common cause well known to these trucks? Truck seems too new for it to be something under the hood, but appreciate any insight.

Very common for this to happen with fuel tank recall, there's hoses and seals that can not sit correctly and take a few days to show as a leak.

The problem is, if you take it in to the shop, the tech will likely dodge the comeback and blame a hose or canister.

I'd say take it elsewhere and have them diagnose it, and document and damage or errors that are likely caused by the tech.

Update - Took it back to the shop that did the fuel pump recall and explained the new OEM gas cap, and the fact that I found a broken clip that holds the fuel lines in place (right before I took it back in) and it was slopping around when jarred, and asked them to please validate their recall work before trying to throw parts at it.

They smoke tested the evap system and found no leaks. So, absolute shock to me, they took the tank back off, re fit all the fittings and checked the seals, re-assembled, and re-tested. Ran the evap diagnostic and it passed.

    $0 no charge.

I was shocked and thought for sure they would at least try to hit me with a diagnostic fee. Hate taking my cars to anyone, but held my nose and had the recall work done, and was very happy they fixed their problem.
