We set a specific parameter in the cal to specify the tire size to help the TCU shift more effectively.

I doubt anyone would notice the difference in a blind test staying with the 31-33" variant vs the 34-35" variant. Don't stress about it too much. ;)

I currently have the lite/mild setting on my '21. Up until recently I had reserved the mild for highway driving because it always felt jerky when starting from a stop. After topping off my ATF level (and finding it was 9-10 oz low) the mild setting has been perfect. Nice and smooth from stop with enough power for when I need it. Not sure if you would have the same result but might be worth a shot.

Another positive review for OTT here just on a 2.7, Justin has gone above and beyond making small adjustments for me. This should be the very first mod on any 3rd gen period. The throttle response, shifting, it stays in gear under load, its how the truck should have came out of the box. I tried all of the settings and like spicy/extra spicy for ect. The 2.7 needs a more aggressive throttle to get up and go over the 3.5 cant recommend a tune enough just get it.

One “level” hotter throttle than the throttle you choose for non-ECT. And a revised sport/tow oriented shift schedule.

I met up with Tom yesterday and had my truck updated to 9.0 (mild/med.). Tom is a great guy and can’t recommend him enough!

I was considering a mild or mid tune for my 2015 Taco, auto on 33's but I had a few questions. Hopefully someone here can help:
    1. I have URD Cam Gears already. Will this affect the tuning?
    2. Is there any loss of MPG?
    3. Can I still pass a California smog test after the tune?
    Thanks for the help

    1) You may want to do a “custom” tune with the cam gears to get all you can out of it. I think Justin has a base tune based off whether or not you have cam gears.
    2) Not by default. You may see a loss as you may drive more aggressively with the more power. If you drive smoothly, gently, you will likely see better MPGs as the truck won’t be running as rich by default - wasting gas.
    3) Yes. Nobody has reported any issues with CARB.

I change the setting every now and then. Today, just for fun, I changed the tune to the spicy/race version. I'll see how she is when I leave for work in a couple hours. Looking forward to it. I haven't used that one since last summer.

If I am going to regear soon: Should I just wait to get a tune? Does it usually cost full price to have adjustments done (regear, tire size, etc)?

OTT doesn't charge for the update. Coordinate with your local retailer. They may have a small fee to cover gas/travel/etc. But any and all updates for throttle adjustments/gear updates/etc. are of no charge by OTT.
