Bump stop spacers

While im still deciding to either go hydro bumps or timbrens in the rear, I want to install my rear shocks on my truck. Does anyone make a 2" rear bump stop spacer?

What are you trying to achieve with a 2” spacer?

 

My rear shocks are for a 2" lift, so I'm assuming that since it's a longer shock body the bump stop will need be 2" longer? If I'm wrong please let me know lol

 

I'm in the same boat. 3" rear lift on 5160s. No added weight, all pavement.

They may not need to be. It depends on the compressed lengths of the shocks, as it's possible to make them longer extended, but the same as stock when compressed.

Dobinsons GS59-940 for example are for 0-3" of lift but do not require any bump stop extensions. The extended travel 941 shocks do though because they're longer when fully compressed (they bottom out sooner)

As far as spacers go, it's not a normal thing on these, as the bump stop is held in place with the u-bolts. You'd run longer bump stops if needed

 

Like mentioned above, a longer bump spacer depends on your shocks compressed length and leaf pack thickness. Do you know what those are?

Hydro bumps in the rear are often times adjustable, so may not need a spacer. We offer different height bump stop spacers with our u-bolt flip kit if you decide to not doing air bumps.

 

As previously mentioned, there are a few other variables to consider. You'd really have to cycle to confirm but the equation isn't necessarily a 1:1 ratio. You may only need a .5" spacer or so to keep the shocks from bottoming out.

So I put my rear shocks on and the bump stop is about .5" away from hitting after the shock fully compresses. I'm looking at bump stops right now and brands like duro bumps measure 4.25" or 3.25" which would limit the up travel since I don't need that much. Any ideas?

 

You have to factor in that the bumpstop compresses down too.

 

My Timbren active offroad bump stops including mounting hardware have a height of around 4.75".... the oem stops were 3". Distance to frame depends on leaf pack thickness... my RXT leaf pack at option 2 has a distance of 3" from frame to bump stop. Being that the shocks are extended travel i'm on the fence if i need a spacer or not. Timbren makes a spacers (1/2" & 1") for the Timbren suspension enhancement system (used for heavy loads/towing) and from what i understand the spacers could be used for the active offroad stops but are not recommended. The total deflected (compressed) height of bump stop is 1.25" /total amount of compression is .75".
