Does anyone know what Toyota uses? Or has used a product that matches closely to the original Wheel well factory spray. It's thick, beige in color under the factory paint, porous and spongy. I had to remove some of it to fix some rust holes and I'm very particular and want to make it look like I was never there.

Thank you for you time and advice!!!

I believe that would be referred to as “rubberized undercoating”. Not trying to sound like a dick, just an attempt to help you hone in on what you’re looking for. Unfortunately I’m of no help with who Toyota used as a supplier originally, but as a blanket statement, 3M products are typically of good quality.

A rubberized spray like PlasiDip could work..

Not sure that I personally would spend a ton of time trying to track down the exact product that was used in the wheel wells. I'd just use a generic product as mentioned above. The Tacoma Police aren't going to vote you outta the club over this or anything.

yes, it is rubberized undercoating but which one exactly, we don't know!!

It would be better to avoid the headaches and use a generic one instead

I've been told it was spray on seam sealer. I'm really looking for something that would be a close match so it blends in with what is already there since its a patch right in the middle of the wheel well from a rust hole in the bed. Thanks again!!!

Yep, it's confirmed that it is sprayable seam sealer and it is not a rubberized under coating. Which kind of spray able seam sealer does not really matter. The texture seems to come from the air pressure on your gun. Dose anyone have any experience, advice, or a good YouTube video etc? Thanks again!

I would check out tutorials for spraying bedliner. I imagine the techniques would be similar though you'll have to adjust for the difference in product.

I wonder if you skim coated it manually and used a foam paint roller on it if it would have a decent texture.

I got the SEM product listed above and it came out great. I sprayed over my patch panel and then did I lite spray over the reset of the wheel well so it would all look the same. I should have done before and after pictures. Hopefully Ill remember next time.

It's Lord Fusor 805 with a Lord Fusor pressure pot gun. The classic Mustang guys do this to there rear wheel wells and paint and clear it.

I did it to the 69 Mustang I restored and I can tell you it looks the same as the Tacoma's coating.

Foot, thanks so much for your response. I found this product and looked into a few weeks ago, however a company rep. told me over the phone that it is back order and he doesn't know when it will be restocked. At the time of our conversation it had been several months and he just couldn't put a timeline on when they would have this product available again.

Hopefully this will help others in the future!!!
