By looking at the picture does anyone know what this is and how to fix it? I noticed it about a week after picking up my new truck. It had mostly been in the garage since taking it home so seems like it came with this. IMG_2020.HEIC.jpg

Looks like someone fixed a dent or scratch but didn’t match it.

Still all in my head… but I’m keeping the chrome bumper!
Have you tried buffing it out? Funky stuff cones on these new guys. I’m still finding glue lines from the wraps on them when delivered.

Here's another picture. I've tried buffing with what I have, which is just detailer spray and Griot's ceramic spray wax. Probably best to take it to the dealer..I was just hoping to be done with them for good.

That looks like something was painted over in a shade of paint that is slightly different from the paint the vehicle was painted with or the clearcoat wasn’t properly touched up. But either way that looks like a paint repair. If you don’t trust the dealer, you can go by a body shop or a paintless dent guy and ask him if it looks like it’s been repaired.

I can’t believe it would happen at the factory because they would just repaint the entire door.

I fucked around with the color settings of your photo, and it’s much more apparent that it looks like some type of gouge or gash that was repaired.

Looks like something may have damaged the paint during the journey from factory to dealership and an attempt was made to correct it. Prob not a common occurance, but things happen. I can't imagine the dealer not making it good, but show it to them as soon as you can time is not on your side here. Don't attempt any further corrections yourself.

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Paint is covered under 3/36 so your good there. Looks like they tried to spot fix it. To do it properly that’s an entire door repaint then you hope it’s matches the front door and cab. I super good painter may be able to blend on just the door but I doubt the dealer has a painter that good imo.

Update for anyone here interested: After getting passed around at the dealership for over a week (service saying sales had to handle it and sales saying service had to handle it, and people not calling back) the door is finally being repainted. The guy I had to work with at the dealership said he had no idea what caused the mark...he had a few guesses but wasn't sure if it arrived from the factory with it or if the dealership caused it. They said they would try to go the warranty route and if it wasn't approved sales would pay for it.

It takes a solid amount of time to fix all the crap these guys come with from the factory. Mine came with a crooked bed, crooked bumper, crooked hood, a buzzing radio and chipped inner windshield… still love it but damn Toyota makes it hard

I guess I missed seeing all of that goodness when I got my truck. It was farmed out by the dealer to get professionally ceramic coated before I took delivery.:pout:

Former body man and detailer. From a pic on my screen I'd guess that there was a scratch and someone polished through the clearcoat in an attempt to polish it out.
