Lower Strut Bolt and King Shocks... HELP **RESOLVED**

    Nope, those are not JIS. They take an 18mm socket, not 19mm. Im sure they will work fine, and I may end up using them if Im unable to source JIS hardware.

    My tool rolls are already quite heavy with all the tools I carry for possible trail repairs. Keeping these bolts the same as a standard Tacoma and not having to carry an extra / special tool would be a big plus in my book.

    Edit- yes yes very OCD I know. It is what it is :D

    For reference...
    The bolts I sourced are DIN6921 standard 10.9 steel. If you see the chart below, the bolt head drive is 18mm compared to 19mm on JIS B1189-2005. They are both quality bolts and really the only reason to search out JIS bolts that have a similar shoulder length and overall length is to keep the 19mm drive so you can carry less tools, which is SR-71A's concern.

    Completely missed that. Not an issue for me, as I'll just add a deep and shallow 18mm socket to my tool roll.

    So I got a quote back.. Looks like Ill be making room for an 18mm socket in my tool roll until I find or make something better :D

    The closest they had was roughly $14.50 each and a min order of 10 pcs.

    Had the same issues. Replaced the bolts this summer after having to cut the Oem bolts twice to replace the bearings. The threaded section of the bolt had imbedded into the reducer bushings. Initially thought the Toyota dealer had given me the wrong bolts, which wasn’t the case.

    Interesting that 303 now sells the bolts that I sourced.
    I wonder when King and if King or their resellers will start including the bolts on their Tacoma packages. Seems like a small amount of cost for the amount goodwill they would gain.

    Yeahhhhh it was time to replace these. Got the drivers side done this weekend. Hope to do the passenger next weekend. Absolutely destroyed. Misalignment spacer worn right through

    Also, balljoint press fit perfectly to press the old one out. Small socket to press the new bearing in then squeeze the new spacers in using the vice. As much grease and fluid film on the new one as I could get :D

    I *think* you could do this on the truck without pulling the shock, but I was able to get it out without pulling either UCA or LCA so I did mine on the bench.

    Stuff and junk and things...
    The rears are 12MM bolts and do not have the step down and are not carrying the same load as the front lower coilover bolts. No real need to replace unless your OEM were rusted and needed to be cut.

    Do you know if the 6112s have this issue? I'm experiencing some noise and I suspect it may be that. I also have the trd skid plate with rci trans skid. I honestly think its coming from that, I loosen it up and retorqued it.

    I never had any noises coming from my 6112s. I did get noises after I switched to ADS coils...still chasing them :annoyed:
