I recently discovered that my 1998 Tacoma has frame rust by the rear passenger wheel.

Its a hole in the side of the frame about 5x2 inches. The top and bottom of the frame in that area appear solid, just that hole in the side. I do plan on driving around town and on highway.

How bad is this hole in the frame? Do I get it fixed? What would you do?

The entire thing is probably rotten back there... Hammer test it.... Then... maybe that whole chunk could be replaced if it's just there....

But that's unlikely. It's probably like that all over the rear on both sides.

    Welcome to the Forum.

If your asking not just fixing !!

You might be looking at a few thousand dollars to do the job correct.

Hard to know without being up close and in person.
