Hey everyone, just picked up a 2021 TRD Off Road in white and am loving it so far. I'm legit maybe 4 hours into owning it at the time of this post so I'm really wet behind the ears here. Coming from a 2015 Focus ST its a pretty big change but we needed a truck in the family and ive always had a soft spot for Tacomas so here I am.

off the rip my first two questions. side steps/running boards? whats everyone like? my wife is short and is going to hate getting in and out of this thing. and second i just started looking for them but the remote tailgate lockers, is there a brand that everyone likes and does it work off the keyless entry (door handle touch pad specifically)

    dealer lot picture for attention.

Looks lifted. Do you know what suspension it has?

As far as steps go, if you plan to do any off roading, then I would buy rock sliders instead of steps. IMO.

Remote tailgate kit I would buy from the dealer, if they make it for your truck.

    Congrats on the truck!

it for sure has at least a leveling kit and needs a alignment which I will be getting hopefully next week sometime. they left 2 stock shocks in the bed along with a box back there too but I didnt look to close at it. (i probably should've)

i dont plan to but i love the look of them so i may go that route regardless.

ill ask when im up there tomorrow to tie everything up.

    and thanks so much!!

Welcome to TW. Daily driver? OEM running boards to help protect the paint from debris. They are not helpful though for access/egress. Look aftermarket. Otherwise rock sliders. I have the OEM tailgate lock and it is wired to work off of all door locks, including the fob & door handle sensor. Awesome color choice by the way.

Welcome Nate, nice truck. I had to put steps on mine for my better half too.
I originally wanted sliders, but they are fairly expensive and ride high and tight to the cab.
I ended up getting a set of these, they're cheap, not too obnoxious and they work fairly well as a step. Not for serious off-roading though.

I've had them on for a couple years and they have been really good. They're aluminum so they won't rust, which is nice.
The wife can use them OK, much better than a previous truck I had with the round shiny ones everyone used to run.
Very easy to install, bolted right up to the factory holes under the floor. Took about an hour.
The link I sent is for the access cab and I see you have the double cab, so keep that in mind if you order.
