So, my cousin just gave me a first gen Sequoia that she was given. The mission is to fix it and sell it so we can get a bit of cash as neither of us need it since it is 2wd. It also has an issue where the battery drains.

The Car: 2003 Toyota Sequoia SR5 2wd with just over 226,000 on the odometer.

It is a total mom car, it is crusty as hell inside, with cheerios, animal crackers, and goldfish litering every square inch of the floorboards. It's got a stupid aftermarket headunit and alarm system, and dumb looking chrome wheels. Other than that and the normal wear and tear for a vehicle that old, it's pretty solid. It drives nice and mostly everything works well.

Heck yeah. 226k is still breaking in for that motor.

You could sell those wheels and get some stock ones. But since you plan to sell it, just clean it up real good. Someone will take it off your hands.

I think your Tacoma needs a V8 swap.

Those Sequoia’s are good vehicles. You’re just gonna fix the battery issues, give it a good cleaning, then sell?

That's my plan. When my 4.0 dies at 500,000 miles, it's gonna get a 4.7l.

Yeah, my buddy has a v8 runner at almost 300K, I love the motor. Hope someone wants it!

Update: tomorrow is clean out day. My girlfriend and I are gonna put some work into it. The battery drain "issue" hasn't been a thing for me since I charged the battery fully, but we'll see. The biggest issue as of now is the rear liftgate doesn't lock at all. Will update with pics tomorrow when we clean it out.

Well, we got it all cleaned out and posted up for sale. Probably vacuumed out about 2 pounds of crumbs and stuff. Found a strawberry crusted to the underside of the rear seats. My truck is by no means spotless, but I cannot imagine driving a vehicle this gross inside. After about an hour and a half worth of work, the car doesn't look half bad now!

A prospective buyer paid for a pre-buy inspection on the car. They found it needs a lot of maintenance work, and the timing belt was last done at 86,000 miles, and it has 226,000 on it now! Living on borrowed time. It also has some cleared codes, and many other issues.

The mechanic said "it's a solid car underneath, it just needs some work done." The guy who paid for the inspection offered $2,000, so I may take that.

Sold the Sequoia for $2000 in as-is condition! I'm very pleased with how it went!
