Here's a little simple towing mod I thought you guys might like and very easy on the wallet. I took the Factory transmission cooler and moved it up about 2-2 1/2 inches to gain more airflow when driving not sure why toyota ever decided it was best almost coved behind the bumper plastic. I used 2 1/4 stainless bolts and just left out the third in the middle (already wasn't holding due to deer damage I didn't really fix but didn't effect anything) on the driver side I added 5 3/8 nuts for spacers and added a longer 1/4 bolt instead of Factory and drilled a new hole on the center support up higher. Looking forward to test it out Friday to and from our camping destination about an hour away mainly interstate 70mph and our pop up is roughly 4000lbs plus a half bed of firewood and other camping gear. This will hopefully help the 220-230 degree temps when towing. Good luck and stay safe! Happy modding!

Yeah hazard2600 the best thing to do is upgrade to a larger cooler in line with the factory one which I may attempt eventually if this mod dosnt help temps

I installed one in-line with the factory cooler and added a fan turned on only when trailriding or towing a 3700lb camper. Temp rarely goes over 190deg when towing in 90+deg weather.

***UPDATE*** kinda forgot to post till now but came back from our weekend camping trip Monday. Truck did pretty well. Trans temp never climbed above 180° that I saw and when it did hit 180 driving up hill as soon as I let off some and got over the hill it would drop back to about 160 and held about 165 170 on the interstate 65mph before it would climb above 200 easily at 65mph towing my lighter utv and ambient Temps being around 70 75 both ways there and back. I should also note that I was pulling in drive and not in 4th like the owners manual recommends
