I have a 2007 Tacoma 4x4. Here’s my problem. When I hit my brake pedal it goes about halfway down or more then if you let off and hit the pedal again I have a firm brake like you should have. ABS and Brake light are on. Then it will turn itself off then back on. I’ve been hearing the ABS motor kicking in and out under the hood. So out of the graps and giggles I pulled the ABS 2 fuse yesterday. I’ve got a great brake pedal now. Does that mean that the ABS motor is bad or is my problem else where ?

Thank you for the help and I’m sorry if this is in the wrong place.

    Edit :
That did not solve my problem. My brake pedal is right back to the same thing.

    Check your wheel bearings.

ABS codes should be read! Note most auto store readers do NOT read ABS so call and ask first or buy one about $100 or ask on TW for someone near you to borrow or read codes.
How many miles on the 07 and what else done to front/rear brakes, suspension, etc.
ABS could be bad wheel bearing as above so the ABS ring is full of crap, bad ABS sensor, damaged ABS wire, etc.
Could be issues in rear as each side also has an ABS sensor.
After you resolve ABS lights then if still pedal issues bled all brakes, look for calipers sticking, and ask again on brakes as many possibilities front and rear.

Never would have thought that. The two doesn’t even have anything to do with each other really. I could be wrong though. Wouldn’t be the first time. I definitely check it out. Thanks for the info.

Thank you for the info. Honestly haven’t changed anything to get air in the system but I will have it checked.

Thank you for the info. My 07 has 161,000 on it. I did notice it pulling to one side a couple weeks ago then it stopped pulling. I know it doesn’t fix itself but it quit. I will either buy a scanner or have someone do it for me. Thanks

As they degrade they can contaminate the sensors, also can reduce initial pad clamp due to wheel wobbling and spreading out the caliper pistons.

Wow. I didn’t honestly know that. I definitely appreciate the info. I will definitely check it out.

Here’s a example of what I’m dealing with. I drove home from work this evening and I had a soft pedal. It set for probably 15 minutes till I left again. Had a great firm pedal all the way to my destination which probably 45 minutes drive. It set there for probably 2 hours. Then back home and it had a soft pedal again. I am pure lost at the cause.
