Just installed a new bumper with frame supports for witching. The Fox 2.5 reservoir up front is hitting the fame support. I have pushed the reservoir as far back as I can without the hose hitting the coil. I have tried putting reservoir mount on the outside if the support bracket, but then the tire hits at full lock.

    Anybody face this issue?

How many threads do you have showing? Or if you could measure the top collar to where the threads stop?

Anyone have a regiment to keep their HSC knob from galvanically corroding on fox 2.5 PES? Do you turn them every week, take the o-ring off and spray fluid film or wd-40 in there monthly?

I had a rear freeze up in 6 months summer. Now one winter and both in front are frozen. Off-road I blow through travel too quick with them on road settings. Sigh

looking for solutions not comments. I think the problem is the ball bearings and springs are just steel and love to rust. They may be touching aluminum with the aluminum shock bodies which would explain why they corrode so quick. It’s clear fox doesn’t use adequate greasing on these parts

Man, this is becoming a huge problem as I believe many people are dealing with this issue and it's only now becoming more well known. I am sending one of mine in for warranty fix for this issue as we speak.

I did try to remove the HS knob after seeing the instructions from Accutune and can't get it off, it's locked on. Over the weekend, my other front was nearly locked up too. Fox needs to do a recall I'm afraid.

I need some advice.. I'm currently running the Fox 2.0's in the front. I'm setting a little over an inch of lift. The rear is not lifted and I'm running the Fox 2.0's in the rear as well (non resi).

I'm wanting to get a little more lift up front and add the icon aal at some point. I plan on running SSO full plate slimline bumper along with rock sliders from RCI. I know my 2.0's will not handle the extra weight so I'm starting to look at other options. I'm also considering jumping up to 285's. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Yea my plan is to try something on both rear shocks since they still turn. If I eventually figure something out I’ll let you know. However not sure I really want to take my coil overs off and send them in. I’d almost rather send them into accutune and tell them to grease the living shit out of them. No reason the entire space under the HSC knob can’t be filled with grease. Then my next thought is to grease the o-ring itself to prevent penetration around it

I took my frozen one apart and you can see all the rust coming directly from the spring and ball bearing

I don't know why Fox thought it would be a good idea to mount the adjustment knobs facing down with the Performance Elite Series.

edit: Maybe find a rubber or silicone cover of sorts to cover the end of the reservoirs.

Anyone know if the pinch-style preload ring on the 2.5 coilovers can be replaced with the solid preload ring + lock ring? I went to adjust my coilovers and found a flaw in the pinch-style design. If the end of the coil lines up with one side of the "split" in the preload ring, it effectively twists the preload ring (think of it like a lock washer...the two ends of the preload ring that meet don't line up) and the set screw is now under side load. That's not good for a number of reasons, and the 2 biggest problems I can see from that are:

    1. The preload ring is now under uneven load relative to the threads on the shock body.
    2. The set screw is going to eat into the aluminum preload ring and damage the threads.

I was able to solve this problem by getting a spring compressor in there, and rotating the spring so the end doesn't line up with the "split" in the preload ring. Now the "split" in the preload ring is sitting evenly across a flat section of the spring end, but it had been like that for a long time and that set screw is TIGHT. I'm guessing some threads were damaged. Luckily the threads on the shock body look/feel ok.

Can they be replaced? Yes they can. Is it easy? Not at all unfortunately.

In order to remove/replace the preload nuts, the shock has to be taken apart and have the reservoir fitting at the shock body removed along with top hat. They must be threaded down from the top of the shock body. May be something you consider when getting the shocks rebuilt. Let us know if we can help

For sure! It would be nice if it was a solid ring with a set screw that locked it to the threaded body. But I got into this whole thing because I’ve been trying to raise the front of the truck per y’all’s preload guide.

I actually like the vertical positioning of the reservoirs, but I have the older ones that don't corrode. I feel like it would be easier to reach the adjustment knobs if they were facing down vs facing rear.

The preload 101 article where we recommend using a spring compressor? ;) Very risky adjusting coilovers on-vehicle. Either way let us know if we can help replace/rebuild those shocks for you.
