    Funny you mention that, dealt with the same too. I gotta pull it and bench test it again and see what's up. Typically if I pull it and remove the load it fires back up again. But super bummed at how it's been so inconsistent after the complete rebuild.
    I meant to ask did you gut the old one and pull the center section off it? Or you did all the cut outs new? For some reason the center looks like the old one or similar so wasn't sure.

    Does a housing like that warrant a diff skid? Seems like a solution looking for a problem especially with no drain on the bottom and a loss of clearance?




    And yesterday I used it to give my wife a quiet house on Mother's day to spend it with my boy.

    It's all new. I started by raising the winch 4" off the top of the frame, and I don't think any other bumper does that, except the coastal high clearance.

    You've never gotten your diff hung up on a rock?

    The solution is to make everything on the bottom of the diff smooth so there's nothing to hang up on.

    All this (red line) would be subject to hanging up on a rock.

    But that will all be smoothed out and covered by the diff skid.

    There is, literally, zero loss of clearance in this case. The skid is 1/4 inch, but the housing armor is also 1/4 inch. I'm cutting the housing armor back to allow for the diff skid to lap over the bottom of the skid.

    Here's what the housing armor, I'm talking about, looks like.

    Also, the part circled in red will be bent to cradle the bottom of the pinion u-joint. (pinion guard).

    I've already actually had 2 drivelines get fucked up from dragging that section across rocks. One of the drivelines had to have the u-joint flanges replaced and balanced, I haven't gotten around to taking the latest victim to the shop yet. (but I did manage to break a driveline bolt on it).

    Yeah I mean I get hung up on the diff all the time but it just gets scratched and I keep on going. I just was feeling like the pinion guard the skid provides now widens and lowers the clearance around the pinion itself. Like yeah you are making it "smoother" but also widening it overall. :notsure:

    Obviously I am interested to see how it all works in the end though, I always liked my buddies setup who ran a track bar just to get a pinion guard on his setup that I thought was a interesting idea.

    Re-adjusted the front limit straps (again). Still trying to find the sweet spot.

    Replaced the Solo lower shock bolts with Toyota lower shock bolts, and replaced the misalignment spacers with Tacoma specific misalignments from Accutune. To space the lower coil a bit farther away from the CV.

    Should be able to start some of the steering project tomorrow.

    Big stuff this evening. Replaced my exterior door handle and dry chem cleaned my driver door interior panel before putting it back together. What I thought was just a speaker replacement spiraled out a bit. I expect the same of the other side :laughing:

    Even that..... I'd seen LC and Taco on 33s pushing through some gnarly obstacles without dragging...

    Heck, it was funner to show guys on SA & 37 how ifs on 35 can go up nearly identical lines as them.

    Welp the rear locker actuator finally gave up the ghost with only 2 years since I rebuilt it. Finally ordered the Aisin replacement today, will likely try to rebuild the old one again though. I think I want to try to extend the breather on the new one or at least verify it is not being compromised.

    Yeah I mean I spray the entire truck once a year including the entire rear axle and even the bottom of the cab so it def will get hit too. It's what's been keeping my shocks nice too.

    I started douching the ones on the Land Cruiser but it was too little too late, I've got a dead rear locker and a dead center locker. Front one still works thanks to the front main seal leak haha. But now I'm on the hook for $1000 in little electronic actuators

    When the FJ80HP are in stock, they are usually cheaper and all you need to do is change the pin arrangement.

    Ooof. if it wasn't for the fact that mine was so gone that it couldn't re seal with the o ring I would have rebuilt this again but I need to break apart the RTV so easier to pop a freshy in and buy myself some time.

    Def will. Now that i am comfortable rebuilding them I probably will hoard a couple more. I remember you selling some and was going to buy the shit off you but got my stuff working again so never did.

    I picked up some old FJ Cruiser wheels in great shape, including the spare. Took a little roadtrip out to Nebraska to grab them, excited to see how these look :D
