I have a 2004 Tacoma with the bubbled styled taillights. However I really like the more flat taillights on the earlier first gens. If I buy the basic early first gen taillight set from Amazon, can I just take out the lenses on put them on my late model taillight lenses? I’ve heard there are wiring in the housing issues if you’re swapping them, but I want to just swap the lenses as my housings are fine. Anyone done this? Will there be any Fitment issues or the taillight dimensions are the same on both but just different styles? Thanks

They should fit your truck, I did it the other way around, I put the bubble on my 96 taco but had to use the newer 01 to 04 screws on the lenses to make them work on my truck. You would probably have to use the screws from the earlier taco to fit the older flat lenses to your newer truck.
