Yesterday I received the Hitchmount kit from Colton @ HotShotOffRoad and installed it. Instructions were very simple, just a Y-harness plug and play… but it’s not working…

The mosquitoes were getting to me and it was a hot afternoon so I figured I’d double check this morning all the connections. I unplugged and plugged back in all 3 connectors and made sure they were pushed all the way in… then I put rock behind a wheel, the handbrake up, then put it in reverse… still no bueno.

did I get a dud? Or did I screw something up? I watched some YouTube vids just to make sure I’m not missing a step ‍♂️

truck’s a 2020 Pro, never used the hitch connection.

Make sure the Deutsch connector on the hitch light is clicked in all the way. The weatherpack seals make it tight.

Check with a test light that the vehicle trailer connector is getting power. If not, you may have fuse(s) blown from previously.

Thanks for the suggestion guys! I managed to find time and check voltages and it looks like the power is not going to the deutsche connector.

Checked fuse first, assuming it was the 40A (green square closest to the 80A):

    Through the Y-harness:

I’ll reach out to Colton and see what solutions we can come up with.

10.2V supply is unusually low. Check with a test light (or make your own from a headlight bulb) to make sure the vehicle's trailer connector can actually carry a current.

Oh didn’t know that… not sure how to make one, it’ll be a google topic for some bedside reading tonight!

But I did make some progress! The red light turns on now:

But that’s pretty much it. The reverse light doesn’t turn on, it just stays red the entire time until I turn off the truck.

Hmm... As @3JOH22A stated that number you're getting is quite low indeed.

When the red light is on, which condition is that in? Truck on, running light off? Or is that a brake condition?

You're checking for voltage in the wrong spot. Check the center pin and the pin 180 from the outer one you are using. Should be red and black on the DD harness.

Also, I am assuming DD used the same color scheme on all of there plugs. On mine, This is the break out:
    White: left turn/brake
    Blue: Parking lights
Green: Ignition 12v+ (for charging a trailer battery)
    Yellow: right turn/brake
    Brown: Trailer brake
    Red: Reverse
    Black: ground

God forbid I bother to look where he's pinning out for voltage.

Thanks mucho! I'll re-try with those pins later today when the rain stops.

On the DD harness, it looks like Red is in the middle, Black is that long horizontal one and Green wire is opposite of the Black:

Black and Red is no bueno:

    Black and Green is good:

Situation is the same as yesterday:
-Static red light when truck lights are on, engine is on.
-No changes in red light when brake is applied or in reverse.
(though I only purchased the Reverse Kit)
