Stainless lines don't do much of anything unless you're planning on building a Time Attack Taco. Which I mean, would be kinda rad, so please post videos if that's the case.

Unless you *have* to change that last section of brake line for things like damage or in my case a big enough lift that the OEM line won't cut it, you won't notice any difference moving from rubber to stainless. Save your cash.

The #1 reason people put stainless braided lines is in that article:

I did! I'm probably gonna take them back and see if I can get a new set of pads or rotors...whatever they recommend since they have that lifetime warranty on them.

No.you can't even see them so it's not a mod for looks.
Rubber lines will wear after about a half decade of use, heat and winter road salt.
They're also less than $200 so "save ur money" is a useless point.

Got 106k out of the first set so went with OEM and most likely won't have to do brakes on this truck again.

I had done a front brake job on my '94 Chevy Suburban K2500, followed the bedding-in procedure, and 700 miles later the brakes didn't have the bite I wanted. I was on wet muddy FS dirt roads and went through a series of fairly deep puddles, and soon after the brakes felt amazing and did till I got rid of it.

Look I love justifying spending money on pointless car stuff as much as anyone, and I've put stainless lines on a number of cars, but the brake line propaganda is thiiiiccc. I get it, I used to buy it too. It's fun to think you have the "extreme performance" problem that only a race car part will solve.

I got stainless lines on my Taco, zero performance difference, but they do look fancy and you can see them because of my lift, so yaknow, bling bling. The only reason I did them is to get more length for lift and they came with the Maxtrac kit. If I had spent anywhere near $200 for lines just get a better pedal feel, I'd be woefully disappointed. If your brake lines are cracked and rotting, go ahead and upgrade if it makes you feel better, just make sure you quadruple check articulation and down the road, because the increased rigidity can undermine your connection. Same reason why you hear about oil coolers failing, even from OEMs - stainless line connections can be mad problematic yo. Cut a plane jane "rubber" brake line open, you'll find layers of reinforcement, it's not just a slinky rubber tube. If rubber lines were somehow bad, Lambo and Ferrari probably wouldn't be putting them on their cars.

If the goal is a better feel, you're better off flushing the fluid, changing pads, and/or adjusting drums than you are adding stainless lines. Way less of a pain to tackle, with less risk of something going south like a banjo disconnecting from the more rigid lines binding - been there, done that. The only time a stainless line helps is in extreme heat situations, ie-track cars. On the street, off-road, or even autocross, you're never going to see those kind of constant temp loads.

At the end of the day, it's your truck, it's your money - smoke 'em if ya got 'em.

I replaced my pads and rotors at 70k miles with some pad life left, but had a pedal shake. I tried to go all OEM as I had no real issues driving and towing, but the OEM Rotors were massively BO'd. So I put some Raybestos R-300 rotors and stock OEM pads. No issues in the 7k miles since.

OP can’t go wrong with oem parts, just shop pricing online or if you have a good dealer with discounts. Good luck.

Thanks for that but I already had it was looking more for something specific to Toyota/Tacoma. My truck has some squishy feeling when applying the brakes. Not really sure if that is an effect of the braking system in general or I have an issue.
