I got one last year as a dedicated hunt truck. After unloading it of all the hunt season junk I realized it’s a pretty spritely little truck and fun to row through the gears in. I end up driving the little truck around town and only get in my f250 when I’ve got to hit the highway.
Drove the thing up to northern AZ a few weeks ago and decided I definitely felt vulnerable on the highway at high speeds, though the truck drove fine.
Also found out that the damn thing gets less MPG on the highway than my ‘22 F250, which is insane.

I love the thing though, and I really like this community and forum. I will never get rid of it.

I love my truck. It was bought new by my grandpa in 1997 for 18k. It was his daily driver to work and not used for any hauling. It was passed on to my dad in 2003. He started using it for HVAC, hauling condensing units and stuff like that. In 2011 my dad gave it to me. Up until a couple years ago it was totally stock except for the tool box that was on the back. It has 337k miles on it and I get offers to buy it all the time. It still runs great. It does give off a little white smoke when I start it so I have to add coolant twice a year or so, and it needs a new rear main seal. But this truck is the best! I plan to put a new diff with a spool and higher gear ratio, bigger tires, fix the main seal and the white smoke issue and then put the supercharger on. Last will be interior and paint. My drivers seat is shot and I sit on pads, but I will be keeping this truck forever. For all three of us, the truck came into our lives at a pivotal time. So gratefully attached to this little buddy.

That's a good looking truck. I also agree, the stance looks good

I’m currently on the island of Kauai.

Every third vehicle is a Tacoma. 75% of them are a 1st gen. 75% of of the 1st gens are double cabs.

    It’s nirvana.

I’m pretty sure I found the answer to this thread…all the 1st gens ended up here.

Are the prices just as high as they are here on the mainland?
