Hello. I have a 2018 Tacoma TRD off road manual transmission.
I’m new to this but I am seriously trying to figure out this issue.
My traction control and cruise control is completely malfunctioning. I have checked every fuse, replaced all four wheel speed sensors, replaced the relays and absolutely no codes pop up on the OBD.
Please if you have any ideas on what the issues can be please share.

Warnings on the dashboard say that cruise control and traction control malfunction, please see dealer. (I will attach a photo when I can). What happened was I was toeing another vehicle on a dolly and hit a bump and then all the lights on the dash lit up. I pulled over, turned the truck off and then back on and ever sense both have not worked and the warning have not gone away.

I have done that as well as disconnecting both terminals. I just replaced the clutch so the battery was disconnected for over a week. I haven’t been able to find a single thing online to be able to fix this problem. Today I checked the voltage out of the trailer plugs and everything is fine there.

A generic scan tool isn't going to pull codes from the ABS or cruise control system, you will need a scan tool that can pull codes from all systems on the truck and see what's going on.

You wouldn’t happen to know what brand of models those would be would ya? I have a pretty decent OBD and still nothing. I’m just trying to not have to go to the dealer is all.

    What do you have?

There's a ton of scan tools out there, enhanced scanners can range from around $100 to over $10,000 it just depends on the brand and what functions it has, typically your gona be in the $400-500 range for a decent standalone full function scanner with bidirectional support.

If you have a decent Android or Iphone the ThinkDiag bluetooth dongle is about the cheapest full function scan tool at ~$110 but it does cost around $70 a year for the enhanced functions, it comes with 1 year free and they run specials pretty often.

If you want something full featured that's standalone the Autel MK808S $479 supports all systems and has active test support.

If you don't need active test support but want all systems codes and data there's the Autel MD 808 Pro at $279

There are plenty of offerings from Autel, Launch, ThinkCar and others with prices all over the place just do your research before buying and make sure what your looking at has the functions you want.

Just a disclaimer I don't own the MK 808S or the MD 808 but I do have a MS 906BT and am happy with it, I also have the ThinkDiag and it seems to work good as well although it doesn't seem to like Chrysler stuff all that much.
I also have a SnapOn Verus Edge that is my daily but that one is a bit beyond the DIY budget.

Yea that should be able to scan all systems.
You did a full scan and no modules have codes?
Have a screenshot of your system scan?

That's the EVAP charcoal canister & leak detection pump assembly I believe.

Im kinda having the same issue on my 2018 offroad. All of the sudden my VSC is saying its malfunctioning, also showing my traction control to be off and saying pre collision system malfunction. All stock suspension and haven't hit any big bumps. It cleared up on the way to work but after work i started it up and its saying it again.

Are you running the TRD PRO grille, here in CA during the foggy season, with moisture/mist in the air, my precollision and cruise control will bug out saying inactive or something, I pulled over the first time it happened to me and I wiped down the PRO grille safety sense cover and it was fine. So now when it happens i know it just needs a wipe down, but I rarely use cruise control anyways. During dry/summer season my system doesn't bug out.
I dont know if this helps out, just sharing my expierence.

On the traction control malfunction, turned off, it only happened twice to me. Once on the freeway and once on dirt roads haulin ass.
IDK what occurred on the freeway to make it fault out but I got worried and pulled off the freeway. I shut the truck off and restarted it, well it went away. The second time i shut it off again and it cleared, so i guess i got lucky. Maybe it does have somethin to do with the lane departure camera(winshield) and the front radar on the grille. Jist curious, check your grille, it may have popped out/moved out of alignment. These front grilles do move alot/not a tight fit. Maybe its pointing too high or too low now, behind the grille the sensor locks down with clips and not screws. Check it out see if you notice anything.
IDK if this helps out I'm just thinking what I would check on my rig If it never cleared.

I do have the pro grill it was on it when I bought it. I’ve had the truck a week so far and the 2nd day I had it I started it up in the morning and it was showing my pre collision malfunction and VSC malfunction. I did clean the safety sense cover and restarted the truck and it was gone. Now it showed up 3 days ago and won’t go away. Super annoying because it just keeps popping up on my cluster screen haha

Yeah there was a "big o" deal with the grilles safety sense covers when all these grilles started popping up for sale everywhere. China coppied, lots of safety sense covers where marketed as OEM and will work with safety sense. Oh well so i bit the bullet and bought 2 covers just in case somethin didnt work out. Taking my taco to the hills, (street roads curvy slow turns) I never had any issues with TSS warning me to brake, taking corners fast and all, adj my fox 2.5s all the way stiff and sent it. My wifes 4runner diff story, all stock trd pro, same roads, handled well but not as good as my taco..anyways the TSS would keep beeping tellin me to brake around the corners, idk if it sensed the guard rails or what, but it didnt apply brakes to correct me. IDK all this TSS mumbo jumbo is weird and fininky i guess.

Yea it seems to be a weird finicky system but I still love the truck I’ll get it all worked out sometime if I have to take it to the dealership eventually then oh well.
