Support our trail cleanup initiative by joining the club and participating in the trail cleanup events. Trail cleanup is our largest open-to-everyone event where you can meet like-minded explorers, get to know each other, and form a bond for the 2024 winter wheeling season.

As per usual we are taking care of the South/North Trail and Black Loop this time and collecting any garbage that we may encounter during the weekend.

DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN GARBAGE BAGS - ALL GARBAGE BAGS, GLOVES AND TRASH PICKERS ARE SUPPLIED BY THE CLUB FOR TRAIL CLEANUP

We ask that waste be collected in clear bags.
That materials be separated as best as you can in the following format for us to accept.
    • Metals
    • Electronics
    • Bulk Waste
    • Beer Cans/Bottles
Since we started, we collected over 3600 lbs of garbage

    DAY 1 (Friday):

Campsite location for the first night.

45°38'16.5"N 80°10'13.5"W -> please see the map below, every person should park as compactly as possible, and make sure you don't block the waterfront area for vehicles to enter/exit. The red arrow is where you are going to enter Black Lake. Tents can be pitched behind in the woods or at the beach area. There are lots of parking options. A fire pit is going to be set up at the beach. Do not drive through the lake water.

    Day 2:

    Day 3:
Pack all gear and garbage, and head out back to civilization.

    Some information:

    - Stock-friendly trip, if it's your first time - this is the time
    - Bring firewood, and dress warm, it may rain.
PRO TIP: IT ALMOST ALWAYS RAINS
    - Bring everything you need for camping, plus extra food for me and my gf. :hungry:
    - Have tow strap and recovery points available, few sections can be muddy at this time of the year. When in doubt walk the water crossing.
    :mudding:
    - There are no washrooms or showers, bring your own toiletry and plan ahead.
    - Most importantly, bring yourself and help us clean trail systems:wave:

Drink responsibly and don't drive on trails under any kind of influence. There is no excuse for that kind of behavior in this group.

If you have any questions, shoot them here. :canada:

Gauging interest in having a smoker and brisket for everyone. Feasibility of powering it for a day can be figured out. Genny available but power stations would be ideal.

Remind me closer to the date to bring it and it's all yours for the weekend. Ran for 2 days straight in -40 last winter at Minden. She kicks ass.

    UPDATE:

This year, we will be dividing into three groups to cover the designated areas, using both walking and driving methods for coverage.

    Saturday Morning:

    - The Blue team will be responsible for the north side, including a visit to the campsite on the rocks.
    - The Yellow team will follow the beach route, driving through the woods to the campsite locations for cleanup.
    - The Green team is tasked with maintaining the cleanliness of the main beach area.

TEC is going to provide gloves, trash pickers, bins for glass, and CLEAR garbage bags for this endeavor. If possible, kindly separate recycling and garbage; this will help us streamline the waste disposal process at the facility and save time.

So it will be a common area cleaning instead of normal trail runs?
