Here's a strat I put together a few months ago. Body from MJT. Neck is a Warmoth 59 profile with Satin nitro finish, 10 inch radius and stainless steel frets.

Thanks! It’s a mix of amber and clear shellac. I was hoping for a lighter color but it took 3 coats to even it out… guess I should have sprayed it versus brushing.

I got the amp up and running a couple nights ago but I need to rewire the input jacks and address some grounds. It sounds great but has some extra noise.

Closer... but curse remains. It was supposed to come with a nut installed. But neck arrived today and no nut present.
If I'd known, wouldn't have been a big deal, I would have just preemptively ordered a nut too. But said it came with a nut, so I did not.

Also, the previous neck looked nicley aged, including aged tuners; this one is vintage tinted nitro, but otherwise is very glossy and mint looking.

Oh well. Now we wait for a nut (and/or whatever comes up next)...

Allows you to break it in yourself! Looks pretty good. What are you using for a nut?

That's typically my preferred path, lol; the body its going on is aged so was wanting it to somewhat match the look.
I did toss it in the freezer for an hour, followed by a quick heat gun blast.

I ordered a tusq nut, but then found a bone blank in my parts drawer. If I'm feeling ambitious I might give it a shot while waiting; it's way bigger than needed though, it will take a lot of work to shape.

I got some bones I have to make a nuts out of myself. Have not tried yet, usually go with TUSQ. I give my dog frozen marrow bones in the summer and I keep thinking that would work perfect for a nut.

    The aging looks good!

Bone isn’t too bad to work but it does stink like burning hair when you sand or cut it. I enjoy shaping and slotting them. The smell is the one thing Tusq nuts have the advantage.

    Any drummers in here?

I share a jam space with a couple other guys. They're both pretty good guitarists, it's all I can do to keep up most of the time. I'm usually in here at least 2 nights a week practicing by myself or with the homies

    20230516_122821.jpg

The kit is nothing special, just a standard issue Tama. The snare is likely the nicest drum, a Yamaha that cost almost as much as the rest of the kit. I have a couple nice cymbals, the rest aren't that great. You start looking into a nice cymbal set and shit gets expensive quick.

I was never really interested in a huge kit. I like to groove and play hip-hop, reggae and mostly classic rock style stuff. Also a surf rock vibe at times..

I play a little; mostly just enough to noodle around or make my own drum tracks to play along with. My daughters learning and starting to come along, but keeps getting distracted by guitar, lol. I also have a Roland electric kit.

I had an electric kit for a while when I was in a small apt. But it wasn't very satisfying to play other than practicing rudimentary stuff. Ghost notes and subtle volume changes get lost ..

No substitute for the power of an actual kit thundering away
