    Aloha friends.

just got this custom bumper job done on my Tacoma, this is a work truck and so I asked for something simple and sturdy. Didn’t come out like we discussed, at all. Was expecting an inset center and wrap around the sides. I’m left scratching my head on how to fix this.

first of all, is it as terrible as it’s making me feel right now? Secondly. I’d like to find something to at least cover the awful gaps under the taillights. Important that it ships to Hawaii.

    and suggestions helpful..

Looks like something that belongs on a skyscraper. Yeah, that’s fugly and needs to die. I would even try “fixing” that. Have some actual fabricator start fresh. Probably also lots of vendors from the 48 who’ll ship to Hawaii, just expensive.

man, that’s the ugliest rear bumper I’ve ever seen. I’d put the stock one back on like yesterday.

Edit: simple & sturdy it is tho, lol!

You’re better off with the Hooke rear bumper….hope you didn’t pay more than $50 for it.

Get your money back and put the stock one back on. Amazon Chineseum bumpers fit better than that.

It's certainly not pretty, but for a work truck, I could live with that if it were cheap. What exactly was discussed? How much did this cost? If it were $100 or so, I'd say that's reasonable. If you paid any more than $250 or so, I'd say a higher expectation of quality should have been assumed.

I'd hate to be the one to say it, but as ugly as that is, if "simple and sturdy" is all the guidance that was given I'd say they met the criteria.

look on the bright side... for a work truck it matches the tailgate

Haa! That was my thought too; yeah it's ugly, but not any worse than the tailgate.

That looks very bad. Like the person who made it doesn’t understand the actual concept of what a bumper is. I don’t think there’s any way of fixing that. It’s like ordering a pizza and getting a plastic bag of dough and ingredients someone stepped on.

At least the paint looks okay.

    Watch your shins.

I don’t know what everyone is complaining about.
To me without my glasses and from 20ft away. It looks pretty good, as long as it’s functional and cheap for a work truck it doesn’t matter.

edit: on second thought now that I have put on my glasses and am closer.
Yeah replace it. You COULD if it’s made from steel, use it and weld more plates on it. But that’s if you enjoy polishing a turd.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
At least the OE bumper would self destruct with lighter hits before transferring energy to the frame.

This piece of RR track won't ding or self destruct in that way, but a solid tap will scratch it while eating your frame.

Looks like something I made years ago for a snowboarding rail that I pulled out of metal recycling
Except it looked better than that !
Hopefully you can get a few bucks for it at the scrapyard

    Well, you have some options.

1, try to return for a refund or get some sort of discount.

2, take it off and chuck it through their front window. Jk, don’t do that.

3, live & learn, keep it, cover the step area with yellow & black striped grip tape. Put humorous decals on the back.
